HOW TO
- Start with the main body using the Beveled Circle Mold. Melt 4.5 ounces clear soap base and add two drops each of Orange and Yellow Oxide Colorant. Add one drop at a time until you get the desired color, then add your choice of fragrance. Spray the mold cavities with alcohol prior to pouring the soap. This will help prevent any sticking issues. Release any air bubbles that may occur after pouring the soap by spraying lightly with the alcohol.
- Work on the other parts of scarecrow while the head sets up. Melt three squares of Mold Market's Simply Clear clear soap base. Add 3 drops Mellow Melon colorant and and desired fragrance. Pour a thin layer of colored soap into an 8-Inch Silicone Jelly Roll Tray (jelly roll trays can be purchased in the kitchen section at Walmart or similar store). Let sit for about 10 minutes and then pour the next color using the same process.
- Use the same colors as the main head to give the “hay” dimension. Follow the same steps as above for the black “stitches”. The Black Colorant is a little tricky, just make sure to add slowly. Too much black can cause a run off of colorant once it is set. When mixing, you may think the color looks too transparent, but when completely set it will appear darker and blacker.
- Beatlemania Blue was added to clear soap base to color the eyes and patch. This one is very pigmented, so add drops slowly. When the sheets of different color soaps are completed, carve out the different shapes with the Recessed Smoother Soap Tool.
- Melt 1 little block of clear soap base to help attached all the cut-out pieces to the head. always go back and touch up some of the problem areas once dried. This is a bit tricky and can look like a mess at first, but you can always go back and touch up some of the problem areas once dried.Hope you all enjoy making this festive, fall Scarecrow soap!
